A quantitative version showing focus error in microns. This simulation by Niels Noordhoek shows 3 wavelengths, red, green and blue. The Carey Mask is a device for accurately focusing an astronomical telescope. It is particularly useful for people who are using a DSLR camera such as the Canon 350D. This astrophotography project shows the North-East horizon when rising Cassiopeia and Perseus constellations in July 2009. Open with Shedir, alpha Cassiopeia, the brightest star in the upper side. Then appears the famous double cluster in Perseus. Finally we reach Mirphak, alpha Perseus. Every frame is made of a 15 seconds exposure cropped shot with a Canon EOS 450d or Rebel XTi DSLR camera. Using VirtualDub I have integrated every frame into a high definition video. More info at computerphysicslab.wordpress.com
